He lived a devoted life without compromising his values. He was one of those who, with his relentless determination, researched and produced the injustice he helped as best he could. May God have mercy on him, “he said.
Bayraktar was being treated for cancer in a private hospital in Istanbul.
It became known that Bayraktar, who died at the age of 72, will be buried in Istanbul after the funeral ceremony to be held tomorrow at the Fatih Mosque.

WHO IS ÖZDEMİR BAYRAKTAR?
Özdemir Bayraktar was born in 1949 in the village of Garipçe in Sarıyer, the son of the fisherman Lütfi Reis, who originally came from Trabzon Sürmeneli, according to the information on the BAYKAR website.
Özdemir Bayraktar, who graduated from Kabataş High School for Boys and entered the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Istanbul Technical University in 1967, graduated in 1972 after successful training. Bayraktar, who worked for 2 years as a research assistant at the Department of Engines at ITU İsmail Hakkı Öz, completed his diploma in combustion engines. Bayraktar worked as a technical manager in the founding and new investments of many factories (Burdur Traktör, Istanbul Segman, Uzel etc.) that play a leading role in the Turkish industrial sector.
Özdemir Bayraktar married Canan Bayraktar, who studied at the Istanbul University Faculty of Economics and worked as a computer programmer at the Industrial Development Bank of Turkey. Özdemir and Canan Bayraktar had 3 children from this marriage, Haluk, Selçuk and Ahmet.
Özdemir Bayraktar, who helped found BAYKAR Makina in 1984 to contribute to the localization efforts for the automotive industry, led many original machine design and manufacturing for the precision machining industry as well as BAYKAR part machining equipment design processes that he made with a single drill. Bayraktar, who played a leading role in BAYKAR’s breakthrough in developing national and unique unmanned aerial vehicle technology, took an active and leading role in the implementation of these projects, from the design phase to the prototype phase, from the manufacturing phase to investment planning.
Bayraktar led the studies conducted with the soldiers in the Southeast Anatolia region between 2005-2009 when the R&D studies of the Bayraktar Mini UAV, the first unmanned aerial vehicle developed by BAYKAR for the TAF, were carried out. Özdemir Bayraktar, who draws the designs of all national and original products developed by BAYKAR, also owns the original designs that give Bayraktar TB2 and Bayraktar AKINCI TİHA their character.
Özdemir Bayraktar received the Order of Karabakh from President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev in 2021 for his contribution to the liberation of Karabakh from the occupation of Armenia by Bayraktar TB2 SİHAs, which were nationally and originally developed by BAYKAR.
Özdemir Bayraktar, who has a private pilot’s license due to his interest in aviation, is considered a pioneer of the unmanned flight adventure in Turkey. Bayraktar, one of the architects of the National Technology Move ideal, worked meticulously with an understanding of ‘quality is in the details’, without making the slightest concession to the values that he has maintained throughout his life in all the projects he has carried out.
